Political Tours’ website is deliberately different from most travel websites. We wanted it to be clean and simple, and if anything more like a news magazine than a travel site.
The inspiration for the home page came from Ally Palmer, at PalmerWatson, the Edinburgh based design team that have been responsible for reshaping some of Europe’s top newspapers including Le Monde, El Pais and Politiken. Ally also designed our logo.
Wild Dog Design in Brighton created and designed the actual site, keeping it crisp and uncluttered. They provided excellent advice and support through out the process. They have extensive experience of working with the travel industry, with clients such as Cox and Kings and AITO.
Enormous credit should go to our photographers who have kindly let us use their work. Andrew Testa, Lyndsey Addario and Thomas Dworzak are amongst the world’s best news photographers today. Eric Lafforgue is fast making his name as one of the world’s leading travel photographers. It also worth taking a close look at Brendan Murphy’s unrivalled collection of photos on Northern Ireland.
As we develop, our news section will feature blogs, analysis, and thoughts on the areas in our tours. Contributors include The Economist’s Tim Judah, Oxford’s Pearson Professor of International Relations, Neil MacFarlane, and the European Stability Initiative’s Eddy Guzuldere, as well as Political Tours’ Director, Nicholas Wood.
Gradually we hope to introduce new elements to the site – and provide more space for good writing and photography. If you have any ideas or suggestions please do contact us.
