Nichole Sobecki is the Turkey Correspondent for Global Post, based in Istanbul, Turkey. She is also a freelance writer and photographer covering news, culture, conflict and economics in the greater Middle East and Africa.
In 2007 Nichole worked as a correspondent for the Daily Star, Lebanon’s English language newspaper based in Beirut. Nichole shot and edited “The Luckiest Man: Gun Violence in Urban America,” a documentary, and “Shooting for Peace,” an initiative of the Jacob Burns Film Center which explores several grassroots initiatives to reach people affected by AIDS, unsanitary water conditions, and civil war in Uganda.
Nichole graduated from Tufts University with honors in Political Science. She has studied photography at the International Center of Photography and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, GlobalPost, The Boston Globe, Life, The Daily Beast, Huffington Post, Eurasianet and The Daily Star.
